Stop Saying “Vaccines Don’t Cause Autism”

By saying “vaccines don’t cause autism”, you are leaving it open to say that “this thing you don’t want for your child, autism, is not a consequence of vaccinating your child”.

It devalues autistic lives.

To people who already prefer dead children over autistic children.

Juneteenth and Non-Black Queer Fragility

a grumpy blue pony

It is Juneteenth, and as I escape my all white family grumbling about the newly nationalized holiday and “how many laws we’ve passed to help them”, I find that it’s not any better online. Threads that are uplifting Black people and Black creators have already received push back from non-Black people with anti-Blackness on their mind and hate in their hearts.

Arospec Art Show

This year, February 21-27 was Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week: a whole week to celebrate arospecs! So all month long, every Friday, I made art inspired by an arospec orientation. And during the week itself, I released a piece daily. Lastly, I made a digital quilt that compiles all of this year’s arospec art together, which I released on the 28th.

February, especially Valentine’s Day, brings a lot of pressure to conform to alloromantic norms, so it’s important to be extra supportive of arospecs at this time. We’re even erased by the wider queer community too, so please do your best to be a great ally for us. And one way you can do that is by learning different arospec experiences, and from different arospec people.

Queer Streamer Shout Outs #1

(This post originally appeared several months ago in Queersletter Issue #1. It has been reposted here for archival purposes and to update pronouns.)

Trans Tiltify is still streaming for the Texas branch of the American Red Cross. This pandemic is already straining medical and hospital staff, and these recent blizzards and blackouts have only made it worse.

So if you’re looking for some cool trans, nonbinary, and trans nonbinary (and werewolf and protogen) twitch streamers to check out and a way to help out Texans, you can do both!

A Collection of Writing Against JK Rowling

Writing and reading are hard, so if HP fanfic is what gets you reading and writing, fine.  Just know you’re highly suspect at this point.

Obviously there are more important things to deal with regarding trans rights, but death of the author doesn’t entirely apply when the author’s still alive and spewing bigotry to millions of followers.

On Gender Equality in Media: A Trans Masc Perspective

I used to feel bad about how my casts basically turn into boy bands, but one of my other trans masc friends says that reading stories from a women’s POV ignites lots of dysphoria in him. And considering how much of my creative process is inhabiting my characters, it makes sense that I can’t inhabit characters that ignite my own dysphoria.

Who Do You Love? Who Do You Hate?

parents, tell your kids right now whether or not you’ll support them if they’re trans, nonbinary, or trans nonbinary

don’t leave them wondering if you love them

and if you won’t support them, let them know that too

one in five trans people are homeless. i don’t want your kids to be one of them, but if being homeless is better than living with you, i want that to be their choice, not a fate you inflict upon them

if they learn soon enough, they might be able to learn how to lie and hide like i did

don’t leave them wondering if you hate them

make it loud and clear to your kids who you want and don’t want in this world, in your social circles, in your family

let them know who you love and hate
